Overview

Salem Media Group under the division of Salem Political Sales is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Regional Political & Government Sales team in a “political/government first” role with the Salem Political Solutions team based Los Angeles, as a Director of Political & Government Sales, West Region. This position will be selling Director, with other responsibilities managing local sellers in their respective markets. Salem Political Solutions works with state governments, political advertising agencies, digital advertising agencies, statewide issue and advocacy groups, and non-profit organizations to develop successful multi-media advertising campaigns. This is a “Hybrid” position with an office in New York.

Responsibilities

  • Generating comprehensive political and government deals, new business generation of this vertical is a necessity. Candidates should have sales experience.
  • Bring knowledge, wealth of contacts, and strong relationship skills to effectively navigate the political/government media landscape.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the political media marketplace with a robust network of client & agency relationships.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the government media marketplace with an understanding of government RFP’s and the process.
  • Understand the Political Agency/Issue/Advocacy and the Government Landscape
  • Deliver compelling advertising presentations and strategic plans that address statewide political/government clients’ objectives.
  • Responsible for accurately project revenues, meeting and exceeding monthly budgets for all product lines and overachieving annual budgets.
  • Collaborate with local sales reps and sales teams, GM’s/GSM’s/DSMs at radio stations, work with Digital Vendors to maximize revenue.

Ensure strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Impeccable character-honesty, integrity, excellence
  • 5+ years of successful media sales experience using multiple media tactics including radio, television, OTT, digital, audio and events.
  • 5+ years of successful political media sales experience and being a part of a high performing media sales team
  • 5+ years of successful experience working with and managing sales reps and large clients.
  • 5+ years of successful experience working in local and statewide markets.
  • 3+ years of successful government media sales experience
  • Ability to sell to clients and understand the sales process including cold calling.
  • Proven track record of budget attainment
  • Proven ability to creatively achieve clients’ marketing goals.
  • Proven digital marketing aptitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Reputation for discernment and wise decision-making

Compensation

Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000 plus generous commission and bonus-based package
