Overview

Salem Web Network (SWN) is seeking a full-time Marketing & Engagement Coordinator or Strategist to join our team and to work either remotely or hybrid from our downtown Richmond, VA office. SWN is a division of Salem Media Group, the nation's largest Christian media company.

The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator/Strategist will work alongside the team to grow our email subscriber audience, engage subscribers by driving traffic to our websites, and monetize email and browser push subscribers. Responsibilities will include working to ensure consistent delivery of email publications and adherence to email marketing best practices; creating and optimizing organic campaigns to grow email subscriber lists; reporting and analysis and helping with additional marketing related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing and brand/editorial teams and analyze engagement metrics to optimize engagement and drive traffic to SWN websites.
  • Brainstorm, create (both new in entirety as well as changes to existing) and consistently analyze in house marketing email campaigns to engage new subscribers, re-engage inactive subscribers and provide desired content and resources to all email subscribers.
  • Build, test and deploy content marketing campaigns including personalization and dynamic content for email and browser push notifications.
  • Understand and analyze email performance metrics and develop and maintain basic reports.
  • Report on email performance and bring data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to the marketing team.
  • Keep up to date with and adhere to email marketing best practices.
  • Monitor and respond to customer service and email subscriber inquiries.
  • Develops and manages the team’s email calendar for holidays and special promotions.
  • Help with additional email and marketing-related tasks and projects as needed.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, Communications, Online Media, or Journalism
  • Previous email marketing experience (minimum of 1 year)
  • Previous content marketing experience (minimum of 1 year)
  • Previous experience analyzing engagement data and making informed data driven decisions (minimum 1 year)
  • Ability to write and understand basic HTML and CSS coding
  • Working knowledge of email marketing engagement strategies, audience segmentation, drag and drop email builders, email service providers, and customer relationship management platforms (SWN’s ESP and CRM is Zeta Marketing Platform)
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in analyzing data including proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Innovation, creativity, a strong work ethic and ability to operate productively in both team and individual environments
  • Aptitude for strategic thinking, and a data-driven approach to decision making to optimize performance and increase ROI
  • Experience with A/B testing and engagement optimization.
  • Strong, conversational understanding of Evangelical Christian culture and the topics, issues and personalities shaping it, as well as familiarity with our Christian audience’s interests, behavior and values

 

Preferences for this position include:

  • Advanced understanding of HTML and CSS
  • Browser push and SMS marketing experience
  • Experience in graphic design concept creation and implementation, adhering to best practices from both a design and marketing aspect

Compensation

$19.24 - 26.00 hourly, plus bonus potential
