Salem Church Products (SCP), a division of Salem Media Group, operates a network of e-commerce websites that equip church leaders and pastors with resources to help do the work of ministry. Our platforms provide digital products, tools for worship, sermon preparation, children’s ministry, and staffing solutions. About the Role
We are seeking a Software Developer specializing in Custom Shopify Development to help us build, optimize, and scale our Shopify-based e-commerce ecosystem. We currently operate six stores and need an experienced developer who can make a large impact as we transition to this new platform. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Shopify infrastructure, building custom features, and ensuring best-in-class performance.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a large impact on our Shopify development at SCP, working with modern technologies like Shopify Plus, Liquid, Flows, Custom Apps, React, and Next.js. Key Responsibilities:
● Shopify Development – Build and maintain custom Shopify themes, apps, and integrations to support our multi-store setup.
● Optimize Performance – Ensure fast-loading, high-performing storefronts that follow SEO and web best practices.
● Develop Custom Shopify Apps – Extend Shopify’s capabilities through custom apps and private APIs.
● Collaborate with Stakeholders – Work closely with designers, product managers, and marketing teams to enhance user experience and functionality.
● Ensure Shopify Best Practices – Guide our team and ensure that our Shopify ecosystem is scalable and maintainable.
● Troubleshoot and Innovate – Solve complex e-commerce challenges, debug issues, and continuously improve our Shopify platform.

Required Skills & Experience
● 3+ years of Shopify development experience (Shopify Plus preferred).
● Strong knowledge of Liquid, Shopify APIs (GraphQL & REST), and custom Shopify app development.
● Proficiency in JavaScript, React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS.
● Experience with Shopify Flows, Checkout Scripts, and theme customization.
● Familiarity with e-commerce best practices, including SEO, performance optimization, and conversion-focused UX/UI.
● Experience working with Shopify’s latest features, including Functions, Extensions, and Shopify Markets.
● Strong understanding of web architecture and version control (GitHub, GitLab, or similar).
● Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications
● Akeneo PIM (Product Information Management) experience – Ability to integrate and manage product data between Shopify and Akeneo.
● Expertise in Shopify Plus – Deep understanding of Shopify Plus-exclusive features like Shopify Scripts, Checkout Extensibility, and advanced API integrations.
● Next.js & React Development – Experience building dynamic, high-performance web applications using React and Next.js.
● Custom Shopify App Development – Proven ability to build, deploy, and maintain private and public Shopify apps to extend store functionality.
