Overview

Salem Media Dallas is hiring for a Board Operator / production specialist based in Dallas, TX  (non-remote). This Board Operator is responsible for the production of pre-recorded and live programs and the execution of Salem’s owned and operated digital products. This is a highly interactive part-time position so availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. Working collaboratively with programming and sales, the Board Operator represents Salem’s Dallas stations KWRD, KSKY and KTNO which broadcast from our Dallas/Irving broadcast facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and exceptional customer service to clients and guests
  • Produce pre-recorded and live local programming with high-quality results
  • Utilize essential tools such as editing software, audio consoles, and microphones
  • Troubleshoot issues during live and pre-recorded sessions to improve outcomes
  • Collaborate throughout the recording and editing process to exceed station goals
  • Implement digital products and services including podcasts and video production
  • Communicate client needs to operations management and the sales department
  • Perform various administrative and/or promotional duties as needed by the station

Qualifications

  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Excellent planning, organizing, and communication skills
  • Ability to complete new hire training and ongoing training
  • Ability to have productive working relationships with others and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Audio and/or video production experience
  • Knowledge of related software (Prophet/NexGen (or similar) system experience preferred, Wide Orbit Automation, Wide Orbit Traffic)
  • Knowledge of digital platforms (ex. podcasts, social media, email marketing)
  • Graphic design experience a plus
  •  

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move from studio to studio for production sessions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 80% of the time
  • Must be able to constantly operate a computer and other office and technical equipment
  • Must be able to lift and move production and audiovisual equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and visually with programmers and their guests in person, over the phone, and through a glass window between production studios
  • Physical requirements may be met with or without reasonable accommodation
